Dear readers,

You may have noticed that my blog is lit up like a billboard veering down the exit ramp on the information super highway to Adult Children of Narcissists and Narcissistic Abuse. That’s because I have finally taken your requests to adapt House of Mirrors blog into a book and made it a reality!

I am really proud of my first book Breaking Through the House of Mirrors: Clarity for Adult Children of Narcissists. And being an adult child of narcissists I am still shocked at my new found ability to express my pride. That’s right, I am proud of myself! I will go one step further and say the eBook looks fan-fuckin’-tastic!

I worked with a publisher and a consultant to get it right and I am very happy with the results – I hope you are too! I have read the book on Kindle and it is so cool. The eBook format is way more convenient than the blog and so easy to read and looks great. It’s also really handy to have all the information in one place that you can bookmark and make notes on etc.

About the book: it’s 164 print pages and contains 22 of your favorite articles. and at the end of each article there is a “Comments Preview”.

I really hope ACONs and those affected by narcissistic abuse find Breaking Through the House of Mirrors: Clarity for Adult Children of Narcissists a valuable resource and a satisfying read!

The eBook contain a lot of material that you can reference in one handy bundle. And I have also added cool new images to make the reading experience visually interesting too! The book is now available at Amazon for $5.99 HERE .

I hope you guys like it! If you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments section.

The second volume is now available at Amazon!

  1. Congratulations on the book! Many years when I was looking for information on narcissism, it was not so readily available.

Now, if we could have 12 step programs similar to Adult Children of Acoholics!

    1. Thank you, Rita!

I agree the next step should be worldwide recognition of ACONs and in person support groups with peers that look-out for each other.

  3. This is great! For a long time now I've wished you would put your work into a book form. the writing is so good and I hope it will be illustrated too. I dearly hope you'll get some copies printed too as the hard format is still the best especially for presents and a resource to be dipped into. I'll be the first to buy a hard copy and you can arrange a print on demand deal with the printers. Well Done !! I'm sure this book will be a great success. All the best. Vince

    1. Thank you, Vince! I appreciate the support. I agree that hard copy is the best. I much prefer an actual book on my shelves that I can easily reference and take with me wherever I go, share with others, give to the MN sister for Christmas ;) The print version is in the works and it's the book I'm really excited about. It will be two volumes in one, and yes, I want to make it visually interesting. I'll definitely keep readers updated on the progress and release date of the book. I think the eBooks are really convenient for reading, but the technology has proven to be a bit of a pain. I've had to take the first eBook down (temporarily) because there are issues with the links - sigh! Anyway, it should be up again by the end of the day (I hope)!

    2. CONGRATS, LISETTE! Yes, I would prefer print too. I tried to download the sample on to my ipad reader and something is wrong there and I can't get it. I hope in this book or your next you address the collective effect of growing up in a household of multiple malignant narcissists. At the ripe age of 64 I am now finally realizing the horrors of it all, understanding the stupid life choices I made because of all the shitty conditioning. Not just the shitty men I picked, but the shitty friends I picked and tolerated for too long -- the shitty service providers I allowed to screw me over time and time again because they're so good at their game and we have been so conditioned by our family of origin to think this crap is normal. Anyway, my sense is you will probably address this in spades but any help would be appreciated, especially any practical ideals to cleaning up our lives from the wreckage these idiots inflicted on us.

    3. P.S. I just reread your entry about making notes in the e book. I like making notes with an actual pen in the margin of an actual book.

    4. Thanks, wallymarecel1. I appreciate the shout out!

I don't know why you can't download the sample. Everything is up and running for the first ebook and the second ebook.

I'm a print person, but tons of people prefer eBooks! The book is delivered instantly and it is a way nicer reading experience than a blog. It's also way more convenient and personal.

Anyway, the print version is in the works and I will keep readers updated. The second book does address the collective effect that growing up in a narc environment has on one's life. If you are repeatedly sent the message that you are shit, you usually end up with a shitty life... until you realize the people who sent you that message are the ones that are shit. This may sound simplistic, but when you truly believe you are deserving of the good stuff your standards go up and then you get it. You get it because you won't accept anything less. Sometimes that requires cleaning house to the point where you have nothing for a while and you have to start from scratch.

  4. Lisette! Omg, you published your first book, that is such an awesome accomplishment!!! I've been following your blog for years and cannot tell you how I am so incredibly proud I am to see your first book is out! I always find myself relying on your writings, more than any other resource out there to decode these narcissists. You have truly empowered me and saved my life. I can't wait to get my hands on your book and all future ones you will write!! Shaking my pom poms for you Lisette. Big hugs, Susan

    1. Susan, thanks for such a sweet message. I've always appreciated your comments and am happy to have you as a longtime reader :)

Bit of a glitch with the first eBook (damn you technology!) so the first one is currently offline but I hope for it to be up again within the day. The second book should be up in running in a matter of days and then the print version will be available after that. So stay tuned!

Thanks again for your enthusiasm and support!

  5. Lisette, I'm going to chime in with other readers and wish you my heartfelt congratulations! On second thought, that's not enough. What you have accomplished is supreme! Once again you have dealt a heavy blow to the kingdom of narcissistic darkness! I sit here reveling in a vicarious victory knowing that every time your narc family tries to knock you down a peg, you strike back harder and faster and stronger! They try and muzzle you from blogging and you turn your blog into a book! I bet they didn't see that coming! Your war strategy is impressive. Have they not realized you will not back down and perhaps you are smarter than all of them combined?!

Your writing about narcissistic abuse puts other "writers" on the subject to shame. In some ways I'm proud to be an ACON simply because you articulate our collective experience in a way that is real, cool and interesting and smacks a punch delivered with heart. I will be buying you e-books and whatever comes next. We ACONs need a spokesperson and whether you like it or not, we have nominated you, Lisette. So please keep pen to paper, or keys to keyboard! We're in your corner and rooting for you!

    1. Wow! Thank you, DP. I appreciate the encouragement. If you buy a book be sure to leave a review :) You have a way with words and I'm thinking maybe I should hire you as a publicist ;)

  6. omg!!!! Your E-Book is fantastic!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! I am so happy for you! And I think you are like Gandhi to the ACON community ... Just don't go on any hunger strike cuz those fuckers would let you starve!!!

    1. Thanks for the shout out! I'm sure Gandhi would never say this but... feel free to translate your enthusiasm into a book review on Amazon :)

I'm not about to go on a hunger strike. The evil fucking narcs have already starved me of everything. The books are my way of sticking it to them - showing them that their pathetic intimidation tactics, smear campaigns, unrelenting abuse and threats only strengthen my resolve. I'll send them signed copies of the print version that will be out soon!
